Taking the Oath Of Office RIP Aaron Salter, Jr. retired from the Buffalo, New York, Police Dept

When a person becomes a police officer he or she swears a sacred oath, an oath that includes a promise to act. Upon a police officer's retirement, the officer turns in the shield he or she wore for many years upholding that oath, and the State removes their authority. What does not happen is the officer is never informed of a release from that oath.

Aaron Salter, Jr. retired from the Buffalo, New York, Police Department in 2018, after many years of serving and protecting the people of Buffalo. In retirement he worked as a security officer in a local Buffalo supermarket as he continued to protect the residents of Buffalo. This is also holds true for many MSA K9 Handlers who were law enforcement officers and/or cops walking a beat and now protect our cities with their K9 partners.

On Saturday, May 14, 2022, evil, in the guise of a deranged, armed 18-year-old male, visited Aaron Salter's market unleashing an onslaught of firepower, determined to kill as many as people as possible. Aaron Salter faced off with the gunman saving lives while sacrificing his own.

Yes, Aaron Salter, Jr. was a retired Buffalo police officer but he still acted under the oath he swore years ago so others could live. You see, Aaron Salter, Jr. was never relieved of his oath, but that is not why he acted, no, he selflessly acted because he was a Cop.

Aaron, rest in the Lord's eternal embrace. Always Honored, Never Forgotten., after many years of serving and protecting the people of Buffalo.
