Our Affiliated Union NUNSO Files an Election to Represent the 72 Ginna Nuclear Security Officers

Updated: Apr 18, 2021

4/16/2021 Ontario, Wayne County, New York, The National Union of Nuclear Security Officers NUNSO, affiliated with the United Federation LEOS-PBA has officially filed an election with the National Labor Relations Board NLRB Case Number: 03-RC-275717. to represent the 72 nuclear security officers working for G4S at Ginna Nuclear Station located on the southern shore of Lake Ontario, in the town of Ontario, Wayne County, New York.

A few days before the filing of our RC NLRB Petition the 72 nuclear security officers working for G4S at Ginna Nuclear Station filed a decertification petition to un-certify their present Union. These Ginna Nuclear Security Officers cited poor communication, and the lack of service as the reasons they chose to file a decertification petition with the NLRB. Once they realized by filing a decertification petition they would be without Union representation they immediately contacted LEOSU's affiliated Union the National Union of Nuclear Security Officers NUNSO. Within hours of the call NUNSO was able to gain enough support to file a RC petition to represent these 72 Ginna Nuclear officers.

Soon after notifying the G4S and the incumbent Union of our intention to represent these 72 Ginna Nuclear officers, their law firm Gregory, Moore, Brooks & Clark, PC immediately sent notice disclaiming interest in this group. This NLRB election which should take place sometime in May comes on the heels of NUNSO's BIG WIN @ Braidwood Nuclear who voted to leave the same incumbent Union who previously represented Ginna Nuclear as well as several other federal facilities in Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Imperial counties. In a short period of time, close to a 1,000 of the incumbent Unions members have switched over to LEOSU and its affiliated Unions all across the country with more filings coming soon.
